Greetings!. You've found zuisa's livejournal - home to fangirling, ranting, and geekery since 2003! Congratulations! This journal is currently coming at you from Somewhere In The Ocean, Probably In the Vicinity of Australia.
I am 24 years old and I live near Boston. I grew up in Massachusetts, and I went to school in Minnesota. In my five years of undergrad, I also spent a semester in both Salt Lake City, Utah, and Tianjin, China. In July I got back from a year spent in Harbin, China. Now I'm living on the Sun Princess, working as Junior Assistant Cruise Director. I apparently move a lot.
I have a B.A from Minnesota State University Moorhead in East Asian Studies and a Minor in Theatre Arts. It's a small school in what is basically the middle of nowhere, but I had a kickass time. I really love school and look forward to the day I get to go back. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to study when I get there, but, you know - minor detail.
In terms of world views, I'm rather politically liberal and not at all religious. But I honestly enjoy political debate and learning about religions, and I am always in the firm opinion that I may be and probably am wrong about a lot of things. That said, please don't be afraid from friending me if you don't share my views. My bottom line is that everyone is entitled to their own informed opinions (but not their own facts!) and that as long as those beliefs aren't actively hurting anyone else, they are fine by me.
Basically, I love TV. I'm currently watching Glee, Chuck, The Vampire Diaries, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother and So You Think You Can Dance (when it's on). Past TV loves include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, Joan of Arcadia, Everwood, Pushing Daisies, and The Tribe. I also make room every January for my love-hate relationship with American Idol. I've just started watching a ton of sci-fi, which has begun an obsession with Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Farscape.
I realize that I watch too much TV, yes.
To aid foreign language study, I also watch a lot of Taiwanese, Chinese, and Spanish TV shows. Favorites include El Internado, 花样少年少女, 恶魔在身边, 恶作剧之吻, and 命中注定我爱你.
I love video games to the point where my PS2 made the trip to China. I mostly play JRPGs, with my favorites being Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Persona, and Shadow Hearts. One of my favorite pastimes is also to turn off the lights and make an unsuspecting friend play through the first level of Fatal Frame. Additionally, I have been in love with all things The Sims (1, 2, and 3) since the first game came out. Sadly my PS2 did not make the cut in packing for this ship and it makes me very sad.
I'm really into musical theater and dance. I am trained to varying degrees in Irish dance, ballet, jazz, and tap. Theatre is basically my life. With the exception of most things touched by Andrew Lloyd Webber, there aren't really any musicals I don't like. I'm a geek of epic proportions, I can't help it. I would gladly trade away everything to be able to act, sing, and dance every day. My favorite shows include Next to Normal, In The Heights, Les Miserables, Into the Woods, The Secret Garden, In The Heights, [title of show], The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Hairspray, and Parade. But really, I love just about everything.
I also play World of Warcraft from time to time. I'm just as embarrassed as you are, don't worry. But I do play a kickass undead mage.
I almost always post in English, but posts will occasionally be made in Chinese, Spanish, French, and Lolcat. And then sometimes I post things in languages I don't speak. But you can leave me comments in any of the aforementioned languages. Especially Lolcat.
My journal is not friends only, but it's occasionally locked for a post or two if I'm being particularly angsty. I like to think that my journal has gotten less angsty and more witty over the years, but this is probably just my delusional wishful thinking! No matter where I know you from (or if you just stumbled across this journal randomly) feel free to add me, and leave a comment somewhere saying hi!
